“Before you, I was hallow inside. But ever since, you’re a constant. I can’t get you out of here.” I stabbed a finger at my temple. “It’s not got anything to do with sex. It’s about this.” I thumped my fist against my chest.

What a strange, peculiar story. I don’t know that I’ve read anything quite like this before. A.M. Hargrove, our author, gave us twists and turns at every moment during this journey. There was so much thrill and mystery I thought my heart might jump out of my chest. You get the whole package: forbidden romance, child abduction, serial rapists, America, London, Italy…I could go on. It was like a perfect telenovela. I could actually see this being painted on the big screen.
Piper, our heroine, is quirky and confident but also emotional and empathetic. It takes a while for our leading man, Alessandro, to come around, but he eventually does with the help of his young son, Gabriele. I will only say this once, and won’t ever repeat it, but I think I loved Gabriele more than his father LOL. What a perfect child. Spunky, assertive, and charismatic, he asks all the right questions at all the wrong times, and it moves our story along perfectly. He is the perfect comedic buffer for the utterly devastating reality of the rest of the novel.
Like I mentioned before, there’s a lot of drama in this one. If you’re into that sort of thing, give it a shot. I also have to say, the epilogue at the end from Reynolds, Piper’s younger sister, perspective had me VERY curious about the next book. I could totally get into that storyline. We shall see!
“He was my heart and soul.”
