Boston Underworld Series

Where do I even begin? I decided to wait until I finished Conor before I wrote my review because, truthfully, I couldn’t stop reading. It took me roughly 4 days to finish all 6 books. To say these books changed the way I read mafia romance would be an understatement. There is nothing like this series on the shelves right now. It is pure brilliance. Every story better than the last. I was sucked into the world with Crow but fell in love and didn’t come up for air until now. Guys, no joke, I just ordered all of these books on Amazon (see my photos above and below lol). I can’t even imagine waiting for however long we have to wait before we get the next book. I cried a lot. Like a lot a lot while reading these. They pull at your heartstrings. I wanted to just do a quick overview of my favorite parts of each book. I didn’t take any notes or write any quotes down while I was reading so some of these blurbs might be short and sweet but make no mistake, each of these novels was just as powerful as the last. Every single one of them is magnificent. I feel like that doesn’t usually happen when you read a series. There are always one or two that flop OR the first novel is brilliant and all the rest just feel like background noise. These are NOT like that at all. Okay, here we go.

Crow: Book 1. Ladies, we start off with a bang here. We’ve got Mack who has no idea what she’s getting herself into when she shows up at Crow’s strip club asking for a job. She’s trying to find her best friend who disappeared and this is the last place she was seen. We are rocking and rolling from the first page here. Lachlan (Crow) is hypnotized by Mack the moment he sees her. He hates her because he can’t get her out of his head. This one definitely has an enemies to lovers flare to it. Packed with passion and twists, this novel will suck you in and demand your attention. 5 stars.

Reaper: Book 2. Okay so I will admit, I was obsessed with Ronan from the moment we met him in Crow. I knew he would be something special and boy did our author show up for this book. Sasha is a dancer at the club and Ronan is OBSESSED with her. No doubt about it. They have a secret that they share and it could destroy both of them if they aren’t careful. (No spoilers here). Ronan has an extremely tortured past. He doesn’t know how to talk to Sasha. He can’t admit his feelings. Sasha is ashamed of her life and the choices she’s made. Gah. This one is all about communication. It’s about learning to love someone for who they truly are. It’s about firsts and lasts. So freaking good. 5 stars.

Ghost: Book 3. Say hello to my favorite book in the series. This one was BRUTAL. We meet Talia (finally). She is the best friend that Mack was looking for in book 1. We also get to dive a little deeper into Alexei and who he is. There’s so much mystery surrounding him. He isn’t part of the Irish mafia, but another mafia group called the Vory. They have traditions and are a lot more intense. He’s a friend and confidant of the Irish and that’s how his story crosses over. This one was dark. I’m talking really dark. Painful and raw but so freaking delicious. Talia is rescued and is in recovery for most of the book. This book is all about healing. From trauma, from your past, from life in general. I could read this book a million times over and never get tired of it. 5 stars.

Ghost ❤ I couldn’t NOT take a special photo of this one.

Saint: Book 4. This one might have been my *least* favorite of the books, but that’s only because our heroine is tough to like from the very beginning. Scarlett has had it really rough. The thing is, we don’t find out about what’s happened to her until a little ways into the story. After her past is revealed, it makes her a little more relatable and you are able to empathize with why she is the way that she is. Rory is the most lovable man ever. He’s in love with Scarlett from the moment he meets her. Truly love at first sight. It takes her a while to open up which is what makes this one so hard for me, but still, it’s nothing short of extraordinary. 5 stars.

Thief: Book 5. Oof. This one was dark. Each of these novels takes on a tough topic that is present in our world today and of all of the books, I think this one was the most painful. We meet Tanaka and Nikolai in book 3. Nikolai is Alexei’s brother. In this novel Nikolai takes Tanaka as collateral for a debt her father owes and of course they end up falling in love. BUT. It’s not without it’s issues. Tanaka suffers from some real problems. Deep rooted from her childhood. She lives her life in a toxic and unhealthy way, but Nikolai is there to help her. There are a couple of scenes in this book that took a lot out of me. The relationship between these two is volatile and, at times, tragic. This story was powerful and consuming. 5 stars.

Conor: Book 6. Our last book. The final chapter and what had me shedding more tears than any of the others. This is the one and only book with a child present. I feel like it’s difficult to bring children into mafia stories but our author did a beautiful job of it. Conor has been a consistent role throughout the course of every story in this series. We don’t learn much about him until his book, and there’s reasoning behind that. Conor was inducted into the Irish mafia almost on accident. If you read the book you will see what I mean. He is the youngest of the men, so his story is the most dynamic. He is still immature in some ways, running away from his feelings and assuming the worst of Ivy from the get-go. This was the perfect ending to this series. Ivy marries Conor for the safety of her son. That’s all you need to know for now. 5 stars.

I never thought I would find a series that spoke to me in the way this one did. Talk about Escapism at its finest. This brought me more joy and tears and heartbreak than I’ve ever experienced. A lot of these stories overlap so you will remember certain scenes from previous books as you’re reading. I know some people don’t enjoy that, but I felt that it added dimension and depth to each and every novel. Bravo, A Zavarelli. You are a true treasure and an author I will cherish forever. I’m so thankful to have found this series!!

Hendrix

It feels like I’ve been waiting for this book for FOREVER. I’m obsessed with this series. I honestly think I might love the Raleigh Raptors more than the Carolina Reapers. Okay so…I’m reeeeally hoping I’m not looking into anything too deeply or expecting too much, but our author name dropped a new sports team, the Hurricanes (baseball) in this book and now I’m OBSESSING over the possibility of another series in this same universe. Can you imagine?? UGH IT WOULD BE AMAZING!! Alright back on track. This was, hands down, my favorite book so far in this series. Hendrix and Savannah are explosive. They are the perfect couple. Savannah is the daughter of Hendix’s coach. She’s off limits but he’s been obsessed with her for years now. She’s his ultimate fantasy. On that same note, Savannah dreams about Hendrix all the time. She decides that he will be the one to take her virginity, she just has to convince him to say yes. The only problem is…if they get caught, he will be traded. There is a strict “hands off Savannah” policy in place. Although there’s insane risk, Hendix can’t say no. He dives headfirst into this one time deal they’ve made. Quickly, “one time” turns into “one night” which turns into “one week” which turns into “one season”. They can’t stop. They fall deeply and madly in love. I was CRYING. Their connection was leagues above others. It’s not something you find every day. It was special and unique.

Then, of course, it all comes crashing down. The wreckage is worse than I imagined and it left my heart raw and vulnerable. But just as quickly as it takes for them to realize they love each other, they lose it all even faster. What lies in the storms wake is the possibility of a new beginning that could be even better than anything they imagined. Take it from me, guys – you really want to read this book. Heck! You NEED to read this whole series!! If you could only understand how devoted I am to these characters…I can’t imagine having to wait months for another book. I’m already dying for more. I might go back and re-read the Carolina Reapers series now that the stories overlap a bit. Could be fun! Give this book a shot! 5 stars!

“I choose you. Your place. Your heart. All of it.”

The Right Way

“In all our years together, I never once felt for him what I do for you in this moment.”

This book follows The Hard Way written by Katie Ashley. I will admit, I wasn’t sure if I even wanted to read this book after I finished the former. I didn’t feel connected to Cade and Avery in The Hard Way and honestly, I wasn’t ever able to see past Cade’s crude personality. But something made me download this book. There was an inkling in the back of my mind that told me to give this story a chance. Give Jonathan and Presley a shot. I’ve never been more thankful that I listened to my gut. Guys, this is a true 5 star novel. This is filled to the brim with emotion and passion. It’s a ride. Every second counts.

We meet both Jonathan and Presley in The Hard Way. Jonathan is Cade’s roommate and when we meet him, he’s taking care of a baby named Evie. We learn that this baby isn’t his, it’s his brothers. What we don’t know is that his brother is no longer alive. Jonathan’s brother, Jake, was killed in a tragic accident that has left Jon suffering from severe PTSD episodes. Jake left behind not only a trail of women (yes, that’s not a typo) but a child (unborn at the time of his death). Presley is an entire other beast of a character. I loved everything about her. She embraced her sexuality. Yes, she did sleep with a lot of guys in high school and was known for it, but it never made her a bad person. Honestly, I feel like it made her even more unique. Jonathan obviously has other opinions about her when he first learns that his parents are allowing Presley to move in with them. Presley has a very absent mother and no father so she would have been out on her own after graduation. Jake and Jonathan’s parents graciously invite her into their home and she is so incredibly thankful, it shows in her every move.

Jonathan and Presley obviously get close and fall in love but it doesn’t happen in the way that you’d think. These two are explosive. The chemistry is off the charts. Every chapter in this book is there for the reader to experience life alongside these marvelous characters. We see death, trauma, dates, love…we jump from past to present and back again. It’s insane!! I don’t know how long it’s been since I read a book that was so unpredictable, but in a really good way. I never knew what was going to happen next, but I couldn’t wait to experience it. I cried and laughed; I felt almost every emotion I could imagine. This book was EXQUISITE. I am so happy I found it and I can’t applaud our author enough for taking us on this epic journey! Bravo! 5 stars!!

Little Lies

“It must be kind of messed up to have found your soul mate before you even understood what it meant.”

I’m slayed. Truly SLAYED. Helena Hunting wrote a masterpiece. There’s no other way to describe this book. Pure magic. Oh my god. I’ve been waiting for Lavender’s story for a while now, but I was not prepared in the least bit for what I just read. Talk about real, raw emotions. They bled out of me as I flipped through the pages of this novel. Lavender and Kodiak made my heart sing. I am obsessed. I’m about to re-read it all over again right after I finish this review.

Okay, so co-dependency. Huge theme in this novel. Kodiak and Lavender are extremely codependent. They latch on to each other after Lavender has a traumatic experience as a young child and they never let go. These two understand each other on such a deep level that it surmounts the connection Lavender has with her twin, River. That’s RARE, people. I mean, what else can explain something like that except for the fact that they must be soul mates? It’s so beautiful. Even when these two are young and unable to differentiate between right and wrong when they are together, it’s beautiful. Even though you know, as a reader, that it’s wrong how much they rely on each other…you can’t help but admit that it is BEAUTIFUL.  I’m in absolute awe. I was speechless when I finished and it took me a few minutes to get up the courage to write down my thoughts. The strength these two have is immense.  They can’t let each other go no matter how hard they try.

We get flashbacks throughout the book, glimpses into our character’s pasts, and to say that those are painful is an understatement. Because you’re in the present and already know how it turns out, reading about the past, when these two were inseparable, fills you with an unexplainable amount of joy and sorrow. Add in the family drama, River in particular, and it has your emotions running all over the place. Side note: River is everything. I hope he gets his own book.  Okay back to Kodiak and Lavender. Their journey is truly something exquisite. They way they come back together after everything they’ve been through is absolutely inspiring. When I think of what *true* love is, this is it. It’s a perfect example of what it means to find your other half. I cannot say enough good things about this book. I’m buying it in paperback as we speak. This was EVERYTHING. 5 hundred stars for this perfect story. Bravo!!

Reckless Memories

I bought this book a while back and it’s been sitting on my TBR list since. This morning I decided to pick it up and give it a shot and BOY am I glad that I did. I love the way Catherine Cowles writes. I love that there’s always an element of suspense that leaves you desperately flipping through the pages to get to the endings. I love that I can’t ever put her books down! I’m obsessed with every new story that I get my hands on. This novel was no different. What a truly special piece that laid out some fabulous frame work for a series of books.

This story is a nice blend of things: friends to lovers, second chance, sister’s boyfriend (if that even counts), and small town romance. Diving into this book straight away I realized that it was going to be a little deeper and possibly darker than Cowles’ Sutter Lake series. There’s a death within the first chapter of this book and I was already in tears. We’re thrust into this world from the very beginning with little warning for what’s to come and it is amazing. Ford, our leading man, is coming back to his hometown of Anchor Island after being away for eleven years. He’s returning for the summer to help at his parent’s bar. This bar has been in their family for years and without his help, it could go under. Little does Ford know that his childhood best friend, Bell, would be working at the bar. After an accident took the life of his girlfriend, Violet, and left her sister, Bell, in the hospital, Ford disappeared without so much as a goodbye. Until now. Bell has never forgiven him for disappearing and leaving her to handle the grief of losing her sister on her own. Ford has to work his way back into Bell’s good graces before she will fully trust him again. The only problem is…Ford is battling his own feelings now, grief and guilt all mixed together. Meanwhile, someone is hiding in the shadows watching these two find their own version of happiness and is determined to stop it. No matter the cost.

This is a story of forgiveness and second chances. It was emotional and beautiful. Adding that bit of mystery is what separates Catherine Cowles’ books apart from everyone else. It’s intriguing and sometimes really scary!! The twist was expertly planned in this book and then we get even more closure at the ending which helps heal our hearts. I loved everything about this story and I cannot wait for the rest of the series!! 5 stars!

Maelstrom

I AM UNDONE. I don’t even know what is happening in my brain right now. My thoughts are all over the place and I’m so completely, unbelievably obsessed. This series, The Red Door series, truly threw me for a loop. I was absolutely unprepared for what Dyan Layne would bring to the table with Serenity but now? We’re on book three and I’m sitting here thinking…how does it just keep getting better and better? These books are sexy and passionate but also intriguing and complex. We get to taste a bit of everything as we sample each of these delicious men and their equally compelling partners.

To say I was excited about Brendan’s book would have been a gross understatement. I knew he was dark and mysterious but I had no idea just how low he was. He carries so much weight on his shoulders throughout this entire novel. He is passionate but afraid to open up and allow himself to feel his feelings. Katie is eighteen. If you know me at all you know I am ALL ABOUT an age gap romance. This fit my every desire. She’s young, naive, and oh-so innocent. Gah! Dyan had me eating out of the palm of her hand. This was delicious!! (How many times have I used that word already? LOL). So here we have a thirty two year old sex club owner and an innocent eighteen year old college student, who meet and share a kiss in a park one night, without even exchanging names. It is a true ‘love at first sight’ story and I cannot even TELL you how much I love those! Ladies I was ON THE FLOOR. This book was perfect! I will say it again: PERFECTION.

There is also a lot that happens in this novel. Maybe I was too preoccupied with the sex scenes in the last book, but I had no idea just how intense things were getting with “she know shall not be named”. Oh man…this book took a crazy turn in the middle and I almost got sick. I almost lost track of what was happening because I was feeling so many things. I won’t spoil anything for you but get ready, I’m serious, you are not prepared for this book. The chemistry, the love (from everyone not just between our main couple), the tears and pain! I cannot praise Dyan Layne enough for writing this series. It is the best, sex-positive, delicious series I’ve ever read and I need more asap. 5 stars as always!!

Hollow Heathens

“She was the freak who was always alone, and she never knew that everyone died so she could live. And I was the monster who was always alone, and I wanted to die so everyone could live.”

The sole purpose of this review is so that I can process through what I just read. It’s going to be more like stream of consciousness, so if you’re not about that, stop while you’re ahead.

My heart has been ripped from my chest. Nicole Fiorina does this to me every single time she writes a new book, but this one is so different and unique from anything I’ve ever read before. It’s all about fate, and star-crossed lovers, and evil. It’s got witches and magic and ghosts and all of the things that keep you up at night. I started this book thinking it would be a great way to get me into the spooky season. Since it’s October and all (side note: I read this book and wrote this review in Oct 2020 lol). I don’t usually read paranormal romances, but since it was Nicole, I figured I’d give it a shot. I can honestly say, with zero doubt in my mind, that this story will never leave me. It weaved its way into my broken heart and planted roots.

Julian and Fallon are more than words. They are light and dark. Good and evil. Right and wrong. This is more than just a romance story. It’s an awakening. It’s being reborn. As I sit here in my bed, I can’t help but wonder if it was a terrible idea for me to finish this before starting my work day. That ending is something that takes hours, if not days, to fully process. Now we have to wait until winter 2021 for the next look into this world. How will I survive? Guys, this story gutted me. It ruined me. I’m a wreck right now, I can’t stop crying. I’m feeling everything all at once. It’s too much. I can’t spoil anything, so I won’t say much about the story itself, but I will say this: give this a chance. It doesn’t matter if you don’t like paranormal romance. This book is so much more than that. Julian and Fallon are so much more than that. I’m burning from the inside out. I’m going to take a nap. I can’t handle the real world at the moment. Bye.

**Hi everyone! I am writing this note from the present (May 2021) lol. I finally got around to posting this review and wanted to throw it out there that I bought this book in paperback and am doing a re-read soon. I AM STILL OBSESSED and seven months later this story is still with me. Bra-freaking-vo, Nicole. I love you.

Surrender // Dominate

“Sometimes when you love someone too much, your heart is louder than your head.”

I need to say one thing about this series before I dive into this double review: it just kept getting better and better. I enjoyed the first book, Challenge, but didn’t feel a need to write a review about it. It was a four star novel, in my opinion, and didn’t leave me feeling any sort of way. Then I read Endurance, and I thought to myself, “there’s a reason this is rated 5 stars on Amazon.” It was really good. But I still didn’t feel that spark. But then…Keeper came into my life and I was mesmerized. I loved everything about Booker and Poppy. It was true friends-to-lovers at its finest. I wrote a shining five star review for that book and couldn’t WAIT to pick up the fourth book. Little did I know…IT ENDS IN A CLIFFHANGER. I despise cliffhangers, but I thought to myself, “Okay okay we can make this work. Let’s start the fifth book and see how this goes.”

GUYS.

I’M SHOOK. I’M A MESS. THIS STORY WAS THE END-ALL BE-ALL. THE PERFECT ENDING TO THE HARRIS BROTHERS SERIES. NOTHING BEATS THIS.

Alright, getting back on track here, let’s talk about Gareth. We’ve been curious about him since book one. He’s quiet and reserved and intense. We never really knew what to expect when it came to him. We caught a glimpse of *something* happening when Tanner and Belle show up at his house unexpectedly and are surprised to find a woman with him, but that’s it. We never get anything else, no glimpse into his life, until now. Talk about the ultimate turn on. This book was BEYOND steamy. It takes what you normally love about alpha males and turns it on its head. The chemistry between Sloan and Gareth is earth shattering. We first meet Sloan as Gareth’s stylist. He is very particular about the clothes that he wears because he has a sensory disorder. It’s never fully diagnosed or discussed in this book, and it kind of goes away when he’s around Sloan, but it’s still there. Under the surface. And it’s important. Sloan is the only person he trusts because she understands him on a level that no one else does. She knows what he needs without him having to say it. So…on that note…when they first sleep together…NOTHING COULD HAVE PREPARED ME. I cannot spoil this for you guys because it is epic. It is fierce and sexy and totally taboo. Please read this book.

Gareth runs his thumb across my lower lip. “Because he didn’t see you the way I see you.” My mouth falls open as tears prick the backs of my eyes. “How do you see me?” I ask, my voice thick with fear. He sighs heavily like he’s been sitting on his answer for ages. “Like a fucking lioness. And any rightful king would be a fool not to bow to his queen.”

Okay, so as we delve deeper into this story a ton of super emotional and taxing things come up. Important to note for you guys as readers of my blog: cancer is a trigger for me. HUGE trigger. This novel is chalked full of cancer. I mean, legitametly three characters have cancer. It’s catastrophic and it took a LOT out of me to make it through these last two books. So yes, we know about Mrs. Harris dying when the children were very young, but what we don’t find out until this book is that our sweet, incredible Gareth was there when she took her last breath, alone. His father couldn’t even be in the room, so, as an eight year old, Gareth took on the responsibility to care for his mother during her last days. Talk about heart-wrenching. I was a complete and total wreck as I read through Gareth’s flashbacks. Nothing could have prepared me. To top all of that off, Sloan’s daughter, Sophia, was diagnosed with a brain tumor (brain cancer?) when she was a baby. She went through chemo until she was three, I think. Please. Stop me while I’m ahead. AND THEN Sloan’s ex-husband’s mother, Margaret, has cancer too and dies!!!! That’s enough for me. I couldn’t take any more heartbreak. Thankfully we get a gorgeous, tearful, insanely well-deserved HEA because I don’t know what I would have done if something else would have happened.

Alright, back on base. Sloan and Gareth both have major control issues that stem from trauma. Each of them handles it in a different way, but what they’ve come to realize is that, with each other, they can learn to heal. It’s beautiful. So much actually goes RIGHT in the second book, Dominate, that I was constantly on the edge of my seat, scared that the other shoe was going to drop at any moment. Luckily, it seemed that we were past most of the larger issues after the first few chapters. I can honestly say that is has been over a year since a book (or in this case, a duet) has made me feel so much. This book is empowering, it’s emotional and passionate, it quite literally brings you to your knees. If Amy Daws can write a story as captivating as this, what can’t she do? As I come to a close with this review, which I’m starting to realize was more like a rant, I just have to remind you all of one thing: it’s never too late. That’s what this story left me with. It’s never too late to forgive, to fight, to love, to heal. Gareth and Sloan will be in my heart forever. A hundred stars for this gorgeous duet. Much love.

“Jump out of the plane with me, Gareth. You don’t need to catch me when we can fly together.”

Kiss Me First

“You’re my endgame. My once in a lifetime.”

I AM OBSESSED!!! Holy moly, talk about the ultimate perfect high school romance. If you have any doubt in your mind about the talent of this author, read this book and allow those thoughts to fly out the window. I knew I would be a devoted Anna B Doe fan after I read an ARC of Kiss To Conquer, but this book only solidifies it. Her talented is incredible! I cant comprehend why more people aren’t talking about this author. Hello!! Diamond in the rough right here under your noses!!

This book is a prequel to the Blairwood University series. Kate and Emmett are a bit of an enigma to us. They are kind of always in the background of the other books in this series (and by other books I mean the first two). We know that Emmett and Kate already got their own HEA before they made it to Blairwood, but if you’re like me, you’ve always been super curious about their past. WELL. Our author gifted us with some pure magic. This story was everything I needed it to be. It’s set in high school, when Emmett and Kate are juniors. Kate transfers in after she and her sister move in with their aunt for reasons that we don’t find out about until later. There is a lot of suspense surrounding Kate and her family. It takes a bit for things to unravel, but that’s what makes the story so much more captivating. As each new piece of information is unveiled to us, we get a deeper look into Kate’s past. We learn why she reacts to things a certain way and why she is so reluctant to give into her feelings for Emmett.

Emmett is all hands on deck from the first moment he sees Kate walking into the school while he’s in the middle of football practice. It’s basically love at first sight. Guys, I’ve gotta admit something…that is truthfully one of my favorite tropes. I’m obsessed with love at first sight novels and even though this isn’t technically classified like that, it still gave me ALL the feels. Emmett is a genuinely kind person. That’s what I’m going to lead with here. He’s smart and dedicated and an incredibly talented athlete. But my favorite thing about him is his determination and his persistence. He knows that Kate feels for him, even when she won’t admit it. He doesn’t pester her or force her into anything, but he shows her compassion and support when she needs it and little by little she lets her guard down.

This one was a bit of a slow burn, but it was almost appropriate because of the age of our characters. We get to watch them fall in love for the first time, knowing that it’s all working out years later. This novel is complex and staggering at times. A few curveballs are thrown your way as you read and they keep you on your toes! I can’t wait for the next book in this series. Anna B Doe is a wizard and her writing is utterly excellent. 5 stars!!

Side note: My sister who is in high school loves to read romance and this is 100% my next rec for her. It’s PERFECT!

Keeper

“When you spend a lifetime chasing after people who were always running away from you, having someone to sit still with can be really fucking attractive.”

Hi. Hello. We need to discuss Booker and Poppy because I’m bursting at the seams right now. I just read, hands down, the best book Amy Daws has ever written. This book was extraordinary. The flow of the story was absolutely perfect. The characters fit together seamlessly. Amy Daws has mastered friends to lovers. I was obsessed when I read Blindsided, another friends to lovers romance, but nothing could have prepared me for this book. Booker is the Harris baby boy, the youngest of the brothers and, up to this point, I’d say the most broken. (I haven’t read Gareth’s book yet so I can say that with certainty). He struggles with the idea of love on such a large scale that he’s physically holding himself back from living his life. We’ve met Booker in previous stories, but never got a clear picture of him. This book rips him open and shows us every nook and cranny. This book explores so much in such a finite amount of time. It’s heartbreaking (I have literal tears coming out of my eyes right now) and so so magical.

Now when I say magical, I mean pure magic. Poppy is like a mystical fairy. She’s spunky and cute and clumsy and everything adorable wrapped into one human. She and Booker were best friends growing up. They did everything together as children, but as time went on, they grew apart a little bit. Poppy fell in love with him while Booker disappeared inside of himself more and more. Booker has severe abandonment issues. SEVERE. So much so that I would say he probably needs therapy. Anywhooo, Poppy leaves him and moves to Germany for school when they are eighteen. He’s devastated. He doesn’t know why she decided to leave or when she’s ever planning on coming back. Fast forward to six years later and here we are at the beginning of our book. Poppy is moving back to London and Booker convinces her to move in with him so she doesn’t have to commute to her new job from her parent’s place. And thus our romance begins.  Talk about a game of cat and mouse! These two have insane chemistry from the first moment they lay eyes on each other again. As quickly as their tumultuous romance begins, it ends even faster. Booker still isn’t able to overcome his fear of losing Poppy, and therefore he can’t let her past the friend-zone. What he doesn’t realize is she’s always been more than just his friend. It takes him a lot of self reflection and wallowing before he realizes what he’s missing out on.

This story is perfection. I will say it again: ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. Amy Daws has won my heart and soul and I cannot wait to start the next book in this series. I’m definitely going to be purchasing all of these in paperback as soon as possible. For now, I’ll leave you with a sunny 5 star review and the advice to have tissues ready because that story is a tearjerker. Much to love the fabulous Amy Daws! Bravo!

“Poppy, you are everything I want as a man and everything I took for granted as a boy.”
